Prononciation du double L (ll) en français
Comment savoir comment prononcer le double-l in français.

It's quite simple in fact. Double L are just like a plain L.
What is funny is the combination "ill" (that's a "ee-yuh" sound). There is only a handful of exception to learn: ville, village, mille, million, tranquille (which sounds like just a normal "il".)

Wow, that's an excellent question.
Maybe try reading this: http://french.about.com/od/pronunciation/a/ll.htm
And this discussion: http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=1350648&langid=6
I quickly read and it seems that it is something to memorize. I'm not too sure as I am not a linguist. :o
