Does anyone know the difference between build a fire and make a fire ?

The difference is slight. You can use either expression to communicate the same idea.

They're really very close in meaning.
I suppose one main difference is that "build" clearly means you arrange the wood and kindling before starting the fire. You can imagine the same thing with "make a fire", but "make" is a very general word.
