Russian kids' books and cartoon suggestions? I want to read some books in Russian but I'm beginner so I thought Kids' books will be good for a start, and watch cartoons in Russian will be very helpful to improve speaking. Can you please suggest me some? Thanks!

Hi! Ask google about "советские мультфильмы". It's nice, it's interesting. And there are a good pronunciation as well!

Also you can watch Russian Winnie-the-Pooh (Винни Пух). Personally I like to read fairytales in order to learn language, Pushkin's tales are good.

The one that comes to my mind now is Кир Булычёв and his series of short stories about Алиса Селезнёва, girl from the future. I liked them a lot. I find them very deep, colouful, heartwaming and full of hope. This is the most famous book about Алиса: http://www.big-library.info/?act=read&book=327 Also this book was made into the absolutely beautiful film "Гостья из будущего".

The first cartoon that comes to mind is Маша и Медведь, although to be honest, Masha is the only speaking character. Another italki member has posted a couple of times about Russian cartoons and animation, so I think they're worth following up on. http://www.italki.com/entry/389299 http://www.italki.com/entry/400473
