"chan" is a normal word while "di chan"is a polite word to use to talk with someone who is higher position than yours. Lol

1. ดิฉัน / dì-chăn = "I" or "me"
[used by female speakers in a formal setting]
2. ฉัน / chăn = "I" or "me"
[used by females in an informal setting—also used by males with intimate friends]

yes, you can use di chan in formal situations .
in formal term
can also use
kha pa jao, kha pa jao aeng,
dian(เดี้ยน) This word is short word of di chan
otherwise you can also use
can aeng ข้
tua chan
Tua chan aeng
Rao
Rao aeng
Khao ( khao,litery means him/her), but can also express as i, myself.
Khao aeng
So on.....
Lastly , you can repeat your name instead of useing any of all above. This also works!
