Recipe question....~? 11/2 cups.....?? :D
~This paragraph is from a book
Here is how to make a fossil: Put 4 cups of flour in a bowl. Mix in 11/2 cups of water. Mix it until it becomes dough.
I want to know what "11/2" is.......... How many cups of water is this....?? Haha... :) Thank you. :)

The formatting of the text is wrong. It should be written "1½ cups". This is the symbol for "half" (because Americans do not use the metric system). In mathematics, 1/2=0.5. So your recipe wants 1.5 cups of water.

Haha, well said. I have my 'measuring' cup in the kitchen and I use it all the time, but I have genuinely no idea how much stuff fits into it...

Philip's right. There should at least be a space: "1 1/2 cups" = 1.5 cups = about 350ml, or slightly more. (Or just use the same cup!)

That would be 5.5 cups. or 5 and 1/2 cups.
