「じゃなくて」 to correct yourself?
I heard in a Japanese dubbed TV show じゃなくて and in the English version the character at that time is correcting herself. Is this a feasible way to correct oneself or would it sound weird? Also can it be used to correct others?

I think it's possible, though I'm not sure about that TV show.
"じゃなくて"(informal way to say "ではなくて") denies something previous.
