A poll is a way of getting a rough idea about people's opinions. We often have opinion polls before elections to find out which way people are likely to vote. An exit poll is when they ask people - as they are leaving the poll station - about which way they've voted.
You can have a poll anywhere or about anything. Popular websites often run polls in the form of online surveys.
