NEVERTHELESS = 'even though this is true' or 'despite this/that (which has been mentioned)||||| Jack loved Jill very much. Nevertheless, Jill was unhappy|||||John was extremely tired, but stayed up all night NEVERTHELESS///// you can substitute 'still' also, whenever you see NEVERTHELESS

I like dogs. HOWEVER, I don't allow them on my bed. HOWEVER = 'and even though the last statement is true ('I like dogs'), this is the exception'||||| So, it is true that I like dogs, but I'm giving an example which I feel would make it sound like I don't like dogs. ||||This explanation is confusing; however, it's possible you might understand||||| It was very cold; however, the sun shone brightly||||| I studied for six hours; however, I learned absolutely nothing\\\\\ HOWEVER - 'on the other hand', 'but', - you use HOWEVER if you're contradicting a statement you just made.

However and nevertheless are very close synonyms and can be used in the same sentences 99% of the time. John is having trouble finding parts for his car, however, he expects to be driving it again soon. John is having trouble finding parts for his car, nevertheless, he expects to be driving it again soon.
