I would say that feeling dizzy is the everyday term that most people would use to explain the feeling of head spinning, losing balance.Vertigo is a professional medical term for the exact same condition.

Use "the difference" ("different" is an adjective): "What's the difference between...?"

Dizzy is an adjective. Dizziness and vertigo are nouns which have a similar meaning.
