"Funny" can mean "strange" (as well as "comical").

Peachy is correct, in this context (sentence) funny does mean strange. Many English words can have more than one meaning or more than one usage. The adjective "funny" has two usages: "comical or humorous" and "odd or peculiar". I always suggest that people who are learning English use a Thesaurus to help them understand a word. I use the following dictionary website: http://dictionary.reference.com/ ............... Click on Thesaurus, type the word "funny" and you will see the two choices (usages). The usage "odd or peculiar" includes the synonym "strange". Hope this helps...
