could anyone explain it for me ?

Carried us means something along the lines of did all the work. If someone carries you in a sport, it means they won the game for the team, or they pulled you to the finish line.

I agree with previous response. Considering the context of the phrase, the individual didn't literally or physically carry them but through his actions (skill and ability as a ball player), he caused them to have the victory.
