Secondo me suona più naturale in questo modo,
I gatti non sono veri amici a differenza dei cani, ecco perché non mi piacciono i gatti.

Forse intendi: Veri amici (come i cani) non sono. Dunque/Per questo non mi piacciono i gatti.
