Saying hello in chinese
Hi Guys,
Ok, so I know that most people say 你好when greeting,
But, I feel that this get's a little repetitive, what else can I say?
Also after the initial greeting - what can I say after that?
I always seem to say: 最近怎么样?
Can you give me some more points to keep the conversation going?
Thanks,
Andrew.

We also say "嗨" “亲” and then plus ”你好啊“ to stranger, but if we talk with our friend who is long-time-no-see, we will say "XXX, 现在怎么样啊",or”过得怎么样啊“,”听说。。。。。。,现在如何啊“。If someone you always see him, we just chat.

像你好,都不怎么说了,有点像小学生用语。一般轻松的对熟人不怎么打招呼,直接切入主题。如果不熟的话,微笑就好,不用刻意的说你好。如果想和他聊天,就直接叫他名字,随便聊起事情就好。

Such as when morning greeting you can say:昨晚睡得好吗?mean Are you sleep well last night. Or you can say :你吃了吗? mean do you have breakfast。
and then you can ask your Chinese friends 你最近在做什么?mean What are you doing these days?
But the most important is that you don't be shy,and believe you can do it well.
