What's the difference between "Zug" and "Bahn"?

Zug bedeutet wirklich 'train'. Wenn man sagt: Ich nehme die Bahn, könnte es auch die S-Bahn, die U-Bahn oder die Straßenbahn sein, alles sind Bahnen.
Allerdings heißt die deutsche Zuggesellschaft 'Deutsche Bahn'.
