Is it correct to say "I like his character"

If I was talking about a person, I could say that, as well as when I am talking about a movie or a book.

We would normally say "I like his personality" or "He's got a good personality".
Character is used more often with either people in books or movies in English.
Example: The character in this book is so interesting! He is always doing things that I would never do!
