In English, "boyfriend" basically always means you are in a romantic relationship, if you are female (males NEVER refer to their "boyfriends" unless they are in a romantic relationship). Women can say "my girlfriend" when they refer to female friends with whom they are not in a romantic relationship but that is a little ambiguous now too-- it is best just to say "my friend" or, as Allison says, "my guy friend"-- "my male friend" is a bit scientific-sounding. "Guy friend" sounds very casual and as if you don't care more about him than you care about any of your other friends, which I assume is what you want to say!
