The direct translation would be, "erroneously thought". But in English we don't say this. We would just say, "I thought..." We would use tone of voice or context to express that we thought incorrectly. For this reason, I've always loved this Chinese word.
If we have to clarify that we thought incorrectly, we would state that outright: "I thought incorrectly," or more casually, "I thought wrong."
