what's the difference between "rock and roll " and "rock music"

Rock and roll is an older musical genre. It was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Rock music is a modern genre. Rock music was very influenced by rock and roll.

Rock music is a genre that encompasses many other genres. Rock music can be indie, metal, hard rock, soft rock, punk, country, etc etc There are many different styles of rock music, one of them being rock 'n' roll.
