what is meaning of "make good with someone"? I'm not sure what is this means? my dictionary told me this means "be a good company with someone?" but I doubt it's means the contrast. so please help if anyone knows it .thanks for all the reply, here is the reason why I get confused: I watched a movie "black sea", which is about a guy who got fired by his company, then he tried to do something so he could prove what his employer did to him was totally unfair and "they" can fuck off. but the storyline in IMDb is this :" In order to make good with his former employers, a submarine captain takes a job with a shadowy backer to search the depths of the Black Sea for a submarine rumored to be loaded with gold." so obviously in this case "make good with"doesn't mean "make a good a company", does it mean " fulfil" ?

This is a difficult one! I couldn’t think of any examples to explain the meaning to you, so I found the definition for you from a dictionary (there are four different meanings) haha! to 'make good' 1. To carry out successfully: e.g. made good his escape. 2. To fulfill: e.g. made good her promise. 3. To make compensation for; make up for: e.g. made good the loss. 4. To succeed: e.g. made good as a writer. I hope this is helpful!
