El arpa es una sustantiva femina?
Is because the word arpa starts with an "a" it has the articlr el, but it is a feminine noun?en.wiktionary.org/wiki/arpa
The feminine noun arpa is like other feminine nouns starting with a stressed a sound in that it takes the definite article el (normally reserved for masculine nouns) in the singular when there is no intervening adjective: el arpa.

According to RAE is a feminine noun. RAE also says: Se emplea el inmediatamente delante de sustantivo que empieza con a- cuando sobre esta vocal recae el acento de intensidad: el águila, el álgebra, el ánima, el área, el ascua, el ave, el Ática. La misma regla se aplica a los nombres femeninos que empiezan por la sílaba ha-, cuando la h- no representa ninguna clase de articulación: el habla, el hada, el hampa, el harpa (escrita más comúnmente arpa), el haz (variante fonética del fem. faz).
Then, it's said: El arpa, las arpas, un arpa, unas arpas.

Hi,
I would say that 'arpa' is a feminine noun mainly because it ends with an 'a'; for that reason when we use a definite article we would use 'una' to express 'una arpa' as if in English said 'an harp'.
However, as you mention, we use the article 'el' to say 'el arpa', and we do not say 'la arpa'.
In my opinion you have found a very tricky noun, but it is not the only one!
Let me give you a short comparison chart:
- El arpa (yes)
- La arpa (no)
- Una arpa (yes)
- Un arpa (no)

Arpa es masculino a pesar de que comience con 'a'
sustantivo también es masculino, por lo tanto tu pregunta debería haber sido:
¿El arpa es un sustantivo masculino?
saludos

- La alameda
- La aventura
- La apuesta
- La armonía
- La arritmia
