In the sentence "I got so hyped", it means excitement and enthusiasm. When used as a noun, as in, "I hear so much hype about the new Mac personal computer", it means exaggerated enthusiasm and positivity. I personally don't say, "I got so hyped." It's a little "young" for me. If I want to use slang, I will say, "I got totally jazzed!"

Joy Boy you are correct in that sense. I got so hyped would mean that you got really excited/had a great time. It is more of a slang term.
