this would be a rather poetic way of saying: "A child's mess awaits an adult to clean it" Hope it helped ( :

It means a child makes a mess, and then won't clean it up until his/her parents makes them, or until the parents clean it up themselves. This is probably referring to the fact that children generally don't take responsibility (unless they are taught to).
