How many types of cheese do you have in US?How can I choose the flavor by their appearance?

The best known cheeses in the US aren't very good. For example, little kids really like "American Cheese," which is bright orange and comes in little plastic packets- it's not a good example of cheese. Cheddar is another American favorite, and it's a little better than "American Cheese".
A lot of the real cheese Americans eat comes from Europe- France or Italy. You can't really tell how good a cheese is by the way it looks, but cheese that comes in wedges (part of a circle) is usually better than the slices.

In the US there is no difference between any sorts of cheese... all of them are disgusting. If you want to try real cheese go to europe or find a specialised shop that offers good imported cheese from europe.

there are too many different types of cheese to simply list or give a number. also you cant really judge a cheese by its appearance because its appearance will not tell you its flavor. though there are many that look similar they may taste very different. Trying them would be the only way to find one that you might like. its hard to suggest a cheese without knowing your preferences.
