wow... you know more than me. I don't even know what is sea cow or sea pig. is sea cow same as seal?
to omit the word ikan is acceptable to some but not all. for instance goldfish otherwise it will mean gold.

Sotong - squid, cuttlefish
Ikan emas (not mas) - goldfish
Bintang laut - feather star (no such term in Malay)
Ikan sardin - sardine (some people say that sardines are ikan tamban, but I'm not too sure myself. They certainly look similar.)
Siput - snail (also used for various shellfish)
Ikan lumba-lumba - dolphin
Udang karang - lobster (some people say udang kara)
Dugong - sea cow (like Salam said)
Babi laut - sea pig (We simply don't have a word for this creature, but sea cucumbers are called gamat in Malay. A similar sea dweller is the beronok.)
