genki text book I feel like I am being dense but I don't understand how the genki textbook for Japanese is supposed to work. It reads with no discernable logic to me. I have not pulled out the CD but I dont feel like I should have to listen to audio to use the book. What am I doing wrong? from other people who have Used genki is there a way to learn that is proscribed that I am missing? I read the preface and the introduction several times to try and discern what was wrong with me.

I have used Genki, thought it was okay...though not enough on its own. I have since found that the Nakama series has a more focused approach and more information. You'll also find many more exercises to practice with in each chapter. I recommend it!

I have been using Genki as a textbook for a class. Personally I don't like it that much. If you are not in a class or have a Japanese instructor it is not the best.
