Can you use 여 instead of 요 during text messages? I've learned that it's common to add ㅇ to the end of sentences as form of aegyo but Im confused about 요 vs. 여. Is it more common to speak it as 여 or write it or both. Example; 안녕하새여^^안년하세여**Why do I keep writing it weird? ㅠㅠ i wrote it right the first time. 안녕하세여***Obviously I would not write like that on a test so please don't take this that seriously.

I'm not a native speaker but from my experience talking to and texting some teenage Korean people (esp. girls) use 여 as a form of 애교 too. It's just not as (which I say lightly) cute as 용 and such. So, 안녕하세여 is okay. People who I talk to sometimes write/say it like that. Just like 안녕하세용~

No guys it's not "ok", it's just plainly wrong... As you know people write like that to sound cute, but that doesn't mean it's acceptable. :)

I think both are correct

For casual texting, it's ok. BUT you must remember that "요" is proper Korean expression while "여" is not.
