we have this name in Persian , we always choose it for girls . however, this name literary means a unique and rare extract which turns silver into gold.

While I know neither Swahili nor whichever language it might derive from, Wiktionary defines kimya as "silence" in Swahili and chemistry or figuratively something very valuable with superior properties in Turkish. Most websites suggest it's a female name.
