It's really confusing to write 2 tenses in one sentence. Especially in quotes without " "
For example, ‘I came to class today"
reported speech: She said that she had come to class today.

In reported speech, if the reporting verb is in the past tense ( she said), you need to change the tense in the subordinate clause. The tense in reported speech is usually one tense back in time from the tense in direct speech. In your example, "came" (past simple) becomes "had come" ( past perfect).
