"Awesome" is typically used to refer to something (an object or situation) that's considered very positive or cool. Person 1: I got a new bike for my birthday. Person 2: That's awesome! Person 1: We're going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Person 2: That's awesome! In describing an object it can be used as: I saw this awesome sports car on the road today. Your new dog is awesome because he knows so many commands. His hair looks awesome now that it's longer. Its original meaning is more formal ("invoking awe"), but it's used as more of a casual, slang term now.
