What does "appeal" mean in this sentence?
Hi,
This is an excerpt from an article:
"In that sense, his appeal resembles that of a Latin American caudillo, or strongman."

I don't know what "appeal" means in this context. Does it mean "a quality that makes somebody/something attractive or interesting" (definition from Oxford Dictionary)? Could you please help me out? Thank you very much.
