What's the meaning of "casual endearment"?

If I call someone "honey" or "love" or "sweetheart" as a gesture of simple affection, as distinct from something more serious, it's a casual endearment.
If you do a Google search for "casual endearment" in quotes, you'll find a fair amount of discussion about it.
