What does 抑える Mean? Can you give me a easy example to remember it?

I think 抑える is likely to be used differently from 押さえる.
押さえる is used like somebody hold something physically. eg. "He holds his brow."
On the other hand, 抑える is used with unphysical thing. eg. "She restrained her anger with difficulty."

食欲を抑える。
control an appetite.
怒りを抑える。
control one`s anger.
those are 抑える for controlling conditions.
抑圧する。
verb: pressure, suppress,.
this is a good example for understanding the meaning of this Kanji 抑.
