'Toward' is preferred in American English, 'towards' in British English. BOTH are correct.

Let me teach you a trick: "vs" (versus = against)
Search the Internet for "toward vs towards". Read the first few hits.
This also works for "could vs can", "should vs shall", etc.

Towards is correct. Toward doesn't sound right at all. I am from the US and we use "Towards." You can use both, but towards sounds more correct to my ears.
