In British English, a car boot sale is an informal temporary market where members of the public can sell things - games, jewellery, clothes, books, household objects and so on - from the back of their car, or from a small table close to their car. This typically happens on a Sunday morning in a car park or other open space.
NB: British English 'boot' ---> storage space at the back of a car = US English 'trunk'.
