We also speak of having our spirit raised.
I felt very alone in that new place, but my spirit was raised when I saw a friendly face in the crowd.

Hi Fabio.
A mood is an emotinal state, for example, being happy, sad, concerned, light-hearted etc. The mood lifts when one type of emotion is changed for another.
I was very hungry and sulky. My mood lifted when I entered the station and spotted the food stalls in the waiting room. (That is, I knew I'd be able to eat!)
Um abraço,
Guilherme.
