"at the bottom of the sea" - noun or adjective?
Is "bottom" being used as a noun or an adjective ?

As a noun. Bottom (n): the lowest or deepest part of anything. "Bottom of the sea" = "the deepest part of the sea".
You could also choose to say "on the sea-bed" if you prefer. Or, if you want to be poetic, you could say "in Davy Jones' Locker". :)
