What is the difference between "stimmt" and "richtig"? Danke schön!

Semantically the two words are similar, but while "stimmt" is a verb, "richtig" is an adverb. A: Die Tage sind im Winter viel zu kurz. B: Das stimmt. vs A: Die Tage sind im Winter viel zu kurz. B: Das ist richtig.
