我不明白,他是不是上京人
大家好!请帮我明白这个句子的意思:
【他都不知道还有这个地方,真亏自己也是上京人】
我不太清楚:
1、他虽然是个上京人,但是不知道这个地方
2、他不是上京人,所以他不知道这个地方

理解方式1是对的。

意思是说“ 上京人都知道这个地方,他也是上京人,竟然不知道这个地方。” 所以你理解的1 是对的。

Without further context, 上 can be a verb or an adjective and the pronunciations are different. As a verb, it means "to go" and as an adjective = superior.
"上京人"
1. someone from the [Grand/Superior] Capital or someone from a historial place name (e.g. Khitan, Qin, Liao "foreign dynasties" where there can be more than one capital)
2. someone travelling to the capital, usually to take imperial examinations, to do business etc.
Hence the sentence is ambiguous without further context.

”真亏自己也是上京人“单看这半句,很好,不过很明显,听到的人会认为”说话者“是上京人。加上前半句之后,才知道,不是说话者是上京人,而是”他“,可见,这两句放在一起并不是特别后,正常情况下要把后半句中的”自己“说成”他“,或“他自己”,而不是直接使用“自己”。总之,如果我说的话,我会说成“他都不知道还有这个地方,真亏他还是个上京人(真亏他也是上京人也可以)”。

句子有意思。 Why is there both 都 and 还有? I guess in English it sounds like "He completely doesn't know even this place, which is really surprising considering he is from the capital."
