Onomatopeia means words that sound like their meaning. Clear examples would be:
Bang
Clap
Buzz
Slap
Sizzle

Onomatopeia is when a word is the sound. Here are some examples:
"I hear the sizzle of the steak on the BBQ." sizzle = that szszs sound when steak is cooking
"The honk of the car's horn woke me up." honk = sound the car makes when you hit it's horn
