j'oublie=I forget (present)

I forgot something. = J'ai oublié quelque chose.
I forgot the lesson today. = J'ai oublié la leçon aujourd'hui. (I don't get what you mean, the sentence is a bit awkward even in English)
Yesterday I forgot my bag in my room. = Hier, j'ai oublié mon sac dans ma chambre.
