"Wie de bal kaatst, kan hem terug verwachten." --> Those who play at bowls must look out for rubbers. --> Meaning: If you do something bad, you should not be surprised when someone else does the same bad thing to you.
"Zoals de waard is, vertrouwt hij zijn gasten." --> The barman trusts his guests the way he trusts himself. --> Ill doers are ill deemers. --> Meaning: Someone who's not honest thinks other people are not honest either.
