Salut Jen
"nouveau" and "nouvel" are adjectives used for masculine nouns.
"Nouveau" is used when the noun starts with a consonant : Un nouveau vélo (a new bike)
"Nouvel" is used when the noun starts with a vowel : Un nouvel ami (a new friend)
Nouvelle is used when the noun is feminine : Une nouvelle voiture (a new car)

Nouveau/ Nouvel/ / Nouvelle/ Neuf/ Neuve ?
L'adjectif new en anglais a plusieurs traductions en français:
nouveau / nouvel ( au masculin ), nouvelle ( au féminin )
neuf ( masculin ) , neuve ( féminin )
La place de ces adjectifs varie: avant ou après le nom.
Attention à nouveau qui devient nouvel devant un nom commençant par une voyelle.
