元気かい meaning I heard a phrase from a toy I bought in Japan which says: 元気かい ! This translates to "how are you" according to Google Translate. I understand the "Genki", but what does the "kai" mean in this context? Thanks.

"kai?" We use it when we ask to someone. 「元気かい?」 Not「元気かい!」 Literal translation of 「元気かい?」 is "Are you fine?"

Kai is an equivalent to ''ka'' but it's less formal.
