You can like a person as well as food or a certain style etc . Love = ai 爱 being emotionally engaged with someone, having a strong feeling of attachment towards that someone (or something). A warmer affectionate feeling based mostly on personal ties or long term acquaintances or it might happen "le coup de foudre" lol , love at first sight ;)
