All nouns in Arabic carry a gender when refering to objects or persons. That is applicable also to descriptions or cases. In this case "I am sorry" in Arabic is written أنا آسف and pronounced "Ana Aasif or Ana Aasef" for male and written أنا آسفة " Ana Aasifa or Ana Aasefa " for female.

The right version is = assiif = assef
