it means that u encounter a number of difficulties or things run into trouble，and u got stuck
for example
we encounter a number of difficulties in the first week 我们在第一周遇到了一些困难
At first things went well，but late on we ran into troubles. 起初事情进展得很顺利，可后来我们遇到了困难
