Alguem pode explicar a diferença entre certidão (por exemplo certidão de casamento) e certificado?

Além disso, "certidão" é só um substantivo, mas "certificado" pode usar-se como um substantivo e um adjetivo.
certidão -> (nf) certificate, attestation, testimonial
certificado -> (nm) certificate; (adj) certified

"Certificado" this is a certificate more informal or "certified" is in the past of the verb certify and "certidão" this is a registry document this is more formal.
