どちらもだいたい同じ意味です。 「わがまま」は転じて「そこが可愛い」となることがあります。 たまに良い意味になるわけです。 しかし、「自分勝手」は常に悪い意味で使われます。 ※ 女性向けの広告宣伝で： 「あなたのわがまま、かなえます!」はアリです。 しかし 「あなたの自分勝手、かなえます!」はナシです。 ※ 別の説明をしてみます。 わがまま： Socially unreceived, but personally received sometimes, By "personally" means "between lovers, friends, or family" 自分勝手 Socially and personally unreceived.

「わがまま」and 「自分勝手」are both describing one's selfish behaviour. However, the latter one is more from the society point of view. i.e.「自分勝手」is a behaviour without considering about the surroundings and it is causing the troubles to the group. Thus,「わがまま」can have a room to negotiate and a chance to be accepted by the surroundings, but 「自分勝手」cannot.
