Is it OK to start a new paragraph with "According to others," in a formal piece of writing ? I'd like to present another point of view. Does "According to others, ..." sound right and formal enough or I should choose another option ?

If you say 'according to others', your readers will inevitably question who these 'others' are. Best to say 'according to <NAME OF RESEARCHER>' If you are presenting a point of view that isn't yours, always say whose it is.
