what does ascription of motive means?
what does ascription of motive means in this sentence? i can't understand.....
my annoyance was the ascription of motive to the secretary, glued down with entitlement and habit. If the motive were recognized to be nonexistent and the entitlement dissolved and the habit fought as a thing in my brain that I did not welcome, they ceased to trouble me.

my annoyance was the ascription of motive to the secretary ==> I was annoyed that I was assuming the secretary had motive (assigning motive to the secretary), had some reason/agenda/motive for something she did. these feelings enhanced and entrenched by feelings of entitlement and habit.
